  • Georgia Pre-K Week: 10/02-10/06/2017 – Pre-K Week is a weeklong celebration of Georgia’s Pre-K Program and other quality early education programs in Georgia.  During this week, leaders from across the state get to experience first-hand the quality learning that takes place in classrooms across the state. Leaders visit pre-K classrooms, read books to students, and sometimes even participate in that day’s activities: Volunteer!
  • Operation Christmas Child: 10/05/2017- Millions of shoeboxes are collected during National Collection Week. Before these special gifts can bring hope and joy to children around the world, each one has to be carefully inspected and made ready for overseas shipment by volunteers. You can help prepare shoeboxes for delivery by volunteering at a processing center. About 80,000 volunteers serve annually at our 8 processing centers across the United States. They have opportunities at the processing centers for volunteer groups of all sizes. Registration for the Atlanta Processing Center opens 10/05/2017: Volunteer! 
  • WonderRoot Signs for Atlanta Pride Parade: 10/06 & 10/08/17 – Atlanta Pride, Clarkston Community Center, WonderRoot, New American Pathways, Latin American Association & Syrian artist Nabil Mousa have come together to march in solidarity with Atlanta’s refugee community. They are looking for help making signs and some folks to march in the Pride Parade with on October 15th. The goal is to connect the community with refugees to build relationships, understanding and compassion. Join WonderRoot at Clarkston Community Center to create banners, posters, and decorations (Friday October 6th 6-9pm and Sunday October 8th 3-6pm): Volunteer!
  • Atlanta Grill Cheese Festival: 10/07/17 – The festival will be at Old Fourth Ward Park. Restaurants from all over Atlanta serve up bites of melty, cheesy, goodness. Buy a ticket to attend or sign up to help: Volunteer!
  • Park Pride’s workday on BeltLine Westside Trail: 10/07/2017 – Join Park Pride and the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership on the newly opened West Side Trail for a volunteer workday. This will be a great chance to get out on the new section of trail, do some great work and get an update from BeltLine staff about the progress of the BeltLine: Volunteer!
  • Hands on Atlanta Day: 10/07/2017 – Over 3,000 volunteers will be needed to serve more than 10,000 hours to uplift the Atlanta community around food insecurity, homelessness, youth development, education, family support & self-sufficiency, senior citizen support and community beautification: Volunteer!
  • Woodland Garden’s Fairies in the Garden: 10/07/2017 – Woodland Garden’s 7th annual Fairies in the Garden is this Saturday and they need extra hands to help! Fairies in the Garden is their biggest event of the year so consider coming by to help out with staffing a booth, parking coordination, arts & crafts, raffle, etc. They have many tasks and shifts available: Volunteer!
  • Service Saturday with Atlanta Greek Picnics: 10/07/2017 – Join Atlanta Greek Picnics in their first edition of Service Saturdays. The project will involve helping the Atlanta Community Food Bank: Volunteer!
  • Winship Win the Fight 5K: 10/14/2017 – This race is aimed at raising critical funds for cancer research, treatment and care at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. Participate or volunteer to help this great cause: Volunteer!
  • Community Bucket Weekend of Good: 10/14/2017 – Join Community Bucket for a morning of volunteering filled with urban gardens and beautiful parks. Projects are available with Concrete Jungle, Kittredge Park, Wylde Center and Urban Fresh (part of Historic Westside Gardens), all of which rely almost exclusively on volunteers to fulfill their missions. After a few hours of hard work, head to a nearby brewery to pay off your good deeds with some local beer and delicious food: Volunteer!
  • Chastain Horse Park Clean Up: 10/14/2017 – Help prepare Chastain Horse Park for their Fall Family Spectacular which benefits their Therapeutic Riding Programs. CHP empowers riders of all abilities through life-changing relationships with horses. Volunteers will clear debris from the sensory trail, re-lay & clean up wood chip trail path, clean grooming tools, paint jumps and more: Volunteer!
  • CPACS TEA (Together Empowering All) Walk: 10/14/2017: This is a unique opportunity for Georgians to celebrate the rich diversity of our State and to walk in unity to celebrate that diversity.   • Atlanta Pride Festival: 10/14/2017 – Atlanta Pride is an organization dedicated to advance unity, visibility and self-esteem among lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender and queer persons and to promote a positive image in the Atlanta area and throughout the Southeastern United States through community activities and services.   • Westside Volunteer Corps October Day of Service: 10/14/2017 – Join the Volunteer Corps October 14th as they partner with the Atlanta Housing Authority (AHA) to present its final Return to Community Farmers Market and Fair of the season. The Market celebrates the Choice Neighborhood communities of Ashview Heights, Vine City and the Atlanta University Center and features locally-grown produce and handmade products sold by community-based growers and vendors.   • ATL Tech Gives Back 2.0: 10/19/2017 – Join Hypepotamus and Community Bucket for Tech Gives Back #2 on Thursday, October 19, 2017 and be part of something great. This is a quarterly service event for anyone who works (or aspires to work) in technology or at a startup, and who frankly gives a damn about helping to make this city better. This time, they have 3 projects to choose from in the afternoon, followed up with a happy hour at Monday Night Brewing for all the volunteers to celebrate their good deeds: Volunteer!
  • Gwinnett Great Days of Service: 10/20-10/21/2017 – Gwinnett Great Days of Service is one of the largest community volunteer events in the nation.  Since 2000, the community has gathered to create and support awareness for the Gwinnett Coalition for Health & Human Services and the many agencies and organizations the Coalition represents and supports.  Join community volunteers as they come together for an annual two day event to work side-by-side addressing specific needs and issues in the community. There are many projects to choose from, including but not limited to, landscaping, painting, food drives, etc. Consider participating as either a volunteer, sponsor, donor or partner in this year’s event! You will love the experience and will feel good about working with  thousands of other volunteers to enhance and strengthen the community: Volunteer!
  • Camp Good Grief/Bravery: 10/21/2017- Camp Good Grief is for children ages 5-17 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The camp is a free one day camp. They are looking donations and volunteers to help out at this event: Volunteer! 
  • PNC 10 Atlanta Miler: 10/22/2017 – Piedmont Park Conservancy is teaming up with Atlanta Track Club to cheer on runners for PNC Atlanta 10 Miler. The Conservancy is looking for 30+ volunteers to join their charismatic cheer crew: Volunteer!
  • Back on My Feet Atlanta 10 Miler Cheer Zone: 10/22/2017- Volunteer are needed participate alongside  at a cheer zone during the Atlanta 10 Miler on October 22nd. The volunteer opportunity will be from 6:30 am until the end of the race, around 10:00 am. The cheer zone will have a theme—Ghostbusters! This is a VERY fun event, so come ready to have a good time, dance, and meet new people!   • Pull for Piedmont Park: 10/24/2017 – Celebrate fall in Piedmont Park! Swing by Piedmont Park Tuesday, October 24th evening and head outside with us to help make the Park a more beautiful place. Cool down afterwards in Magnolia Hall with pumpkin decorating, lite bites and cool drinks: Volunteer!
  • United Way’s Trunk-or-Treat & Fall Festival: 10/27/2017 – United Way will be at Miles Elementary School hosting a Fall festival and Trunk-or-Treat. They are looking for volunteers to make this classic event spectacular for all 500 kids. Volunteers can choose to participate in the Trunk-Or-Treat (Deck out your car, and let kids safely trick-or-treat for candy around open trunks) or to help run the festival stations (we will have face painting, games, and a pop-up grocery shop). Come dressed up in costume to enter the Best Costume contest – no scary themes please: Volunteer!
  • Landscaping at the Habitat Office: 10/27/2017- Enjoy planting flowers? Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers with green thumbs (or those willing to learn!) to assist in landscaping the Atlanta Habitat Warehouse and Family Support Center grounds from 9 am to noon, Friday, Oct. 27.   • Atlanta World Kite Festival: 10/28/2017 – The Atlanta World Kite Festival and Expo is seeking Volunteers to help out at the 6th Annual Atlanta World Kite Festival and Expo. The Kite Festival will be held at Piedmont Park in the Meadow on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 1pm to 6pm. Volunteers will assist with the Kids Zone, Kite Demonstrations and Kite Assembly and Hospital: Volunteer!

  • Make a Difference Day: 10/28/2017 – On October 28th, volunteers from across the country will unite for Make A Difference Day, one of the largest annual single-days of service nationwide. Since 1992, volunteers and communities have come together on Make A Difference Day with a single purpose: to improve the lives of others.   • Atlanta Halloween Half Marathon & 5K: 10/29/2017 – If trick-or-treating is not your thing, then come volunteer at the Atlanta Half Marathon instead! Join in on the Halloween fun: Volunteer!
  • Black Tie Soccer Game: 10/29/2017- The Black Tie Soccer Game is Soccer in the Streets’ end-of-year gala with a twist. Instead of the standard banquet dinner, attendees dress up in formal attire to raise money and play soccer! Volunteers are needed to help make this event a success.   • Atlanta Women’s Build: 09/30-11/18/2017 – The Atlanta Women’s Build (AWB) is a grassroots effort led by individual women who raise funds to sponsor and construct an Atlanta Habitat for Humanity home for a working mother and her family. Over eight weeks, women volunteers work side-by-side with the homebuyer to construct the house, offering a unique opportunity to highlight the ways that Atlanta Habitat empowers women and builds stability in communities.   • Drawchange 5K Run for Art, Run for Kids: 10/28/2017 – This  is Drawchange’s largest fundraiser of the year. 100% of proceeds support the organization’s programs with children in local Atlanta shelters. Join the fun and help support a great cause: Volunteer!
  • Our Cooler: Every Sunday afternoon, Our Cooler passes out free water on the Atlanta Beltline. They are looking for volunteers to help with this effort. There are no water fountains on the Beltline so most people are very grateful, making it a fun and easy volunteering experience. Volunteers need to enjoy or at least be amused by people.   • Angel Tree Sign Up: Along with the familiar Red Kettles, the Angel Tree program is one of The Salvation Army’s highest profile Christmas efforts. They need individuals to assist in their warehouse to sort through the gifts to make sure each child receives the gifts purchased specifically for them and to make sure every Angel has a bag filled with appropriate items. They also need volunteers to help distribute the gifts to the families at various Salvation Army facilities during the second and third week of December: Volunteer!
  • Shepherd Center: Shepherd Center is a private, not-for-profit hospital specializing in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spine and chronic pain, and other neuromuscular conditions. There are a variety of opportunities for volunteers, whether you enjoy interacting with patients, performing clerical tasks or assisting with fun events: Volunteer!
  • Shepherd Center’s Junior Committee: The Junior Committee is a group of approximately 200 Atlanta young professionals dedicated to raising money and awareness for Shepherd Center.  Junior Committee members join to help raise money for the Center, have fun, and meet other young professionals interested in giving back to their community: Join the fun!
  • Atlanta Habitat for Humanity Young Professionals: The Young Professionals group is a self-directed, professional-led organization that works cooperatively with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity through service, advocacy, fundraising and professional and leadership development. Members of the group have the opportunity to be connected and engaged with one of Atlanta’s leading nonprofit organizations. Join the Fun!
  • Samaritan’s Purse Hurricane Harvey Response Team: Samaritan’s Purse mobilizes staff and equipment and enlists thousands of volunteers to provide emergency aid to victims of tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters in the United States. They have disaster relief units, staff, and volunteers in Texas working from five locations, including two in the Houston area. Over the next weeks and months, there is a huge need for volunteers to help restore impacted areas in Texas. They need an army of volunteers—as many as 1,000 a day. Please join them: Volunteer!
  • Orlando Cares Hope for Puerto Rico: 10/06-10/07/2017 – Feeding Children Everywhere is packaging an urgent 4.4 million meals to help provide relief to those affected by hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. The meals will be shipping out immediately to be distributed by FEMA to those in desperate need. There an URGENT need for volunteers.   • The Big Thank You:  Over the past several years, The Bert Show community helped to express a BIG THANK YOU with over a million hand written letters of thanks to every serviceman and woman deployed outside the United States. This year, the goal is the same– to send a letter of gratitude to every single soldier deployed outside the United States on Thanksgiving Day. Drop off locations are available throughout the country. Everyone is welcome to send in a letter. The deadline  for submission is 10/27/17: Join the Fun!
